Austin Chapter Holds Fundraising Concert During 30th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference

Over the past five years at our Global Fraud Conference, the host city’s chapter has organized an event to help raise money for ACFE’s Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship fund. The first year, the Maryland Chapter hosted a cruise around the Baltimore harbor. The Las Vegas Chapter twice held a poker tournament and in 2017, the Middle Tennessee Chapter put on a concert headlined by the Charlie Daniels Band.

This year, since Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World, the Austin Chapter of course wanted to organize a concert at a well-known venue. The chapter organized a concert headlined by Texas Heritage Songwriter’s Hall of Fame recipient Lee Roy Parnell at Stubb’s BBQ in the heart of downtown Austin.

This event was so much more than just a country and western concert at one of Austin’s favorite venues for live music and barbecue.

Before the concert started, dance instructors taught concertgoers popular country dance moves and the dance floor quickly filled up with attendees practicing their line dancing and two-step moves.

That’s not all. A few other Texas Chapters also pitched in. The Houston Area Chapter sponsored a couple Texas longhorns to be onsite for our attendees to take pictures with. Although I have shared some of the pictures below, the images don’t convey how big the longhorns and their horns were.

The San Antonio and Dallas Area Chapters also helped by donating to have Texas Leatherworks onsite allowing attendees to make their own luggage tag, drink coaster or key chain. Attendees hammered their own design. Then the Leatherworks employee added a leather sealant. They all came out looking great.

All of these attractions were extremely popular and helped make this an unforgettable experience.

Thank you to the Austin Chapter for organizing this concert. We’d also like to thank the Houston Area, Dallas Area, and San Antonio Chapters for your sponsorships as well.
