Chapter Profile - Germany Chapter #121

The ACFE Germany Chapter, one of the first chapters established in Europe, recently celebrated their 15-year anniversary. They have been an important partner in promoting the ACFE throughout Europe and increasing attendance at ACFE events in Germany and the ACFE Fraud Conference Europe.

The Germany Chapter is composed of six board members and more than 200 members. They are one of many chapters that do not charge a chapter membership fee. Any ACFE member may join the Germany Chapter. They only charge for chapter-held events. Since they have such a large and diverse membership, their events are well-attended, regardless of the event topic. This model has been very successful.

Their chapter works closely with one of the ACFE’s Authorised Trainers to promote the CFE Exam Review Course in Germany. They realized that as the number of Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs) increases in the region, so does the need for the chapter to offer more networking opportunities and trainings to help members complete their CPE compliance.

Staying Active

Traditionally, the Germany Chapter puts on about 13 events per year, which include breakfast or luncheon events. They also offer longer events that can last up to two full days.

Their Greatest Achievement

Like many chapters this year, they have been forced to adapt to the new environment and offer online trainings. By offering events virtually, the Germany Chapter has kept its members engaged while surviving financially.

Chapter Recognition

The chapter would like to thank President Robert Kilian for his leadership through the pandemic. He is one of the founding members of the chapter and their longest-serving board member.

A Challenging Experience

Switching from in-person events to an online platform presented many challenges for the Germany Chapter. They had to quickly familiarize themselves with new technology and a unique way of offering trainings. Thankfully, they were able to make the transition, and their members continue to attend their events. Additionally, they secure sponsors to help cover the cost of the platform, and they pass on the savings to their members.

Future Goals

The Germany Chapter plans to offer even more events in 2021 as well as computer-based trainings. They hope to remain as visible as possible during the pandemic.
