Featured Chapters: Lehigh Valley and Central Indiana Chapters

While only two chapters can be named Chapter of the Year, many chapters across the ACFE community went above and beyond in 2024. We’re proud to highlight the Lehigh Valley and Central Indiana Chapters for their outstanding efforts in education, outreach, and chapter revitalization. Their work exemplifies the spirit of ACFE leadership and the impact local chapters can have on the global fight against fraud.

Lehigh Valley Chapter
With 72 active members and eight events hosted in 2024, the Lehigh Valley Chapter has become a regional powerhouse for fraud education. Their signature conferences, the Winter Wonderland and May Day, each offered 8 CPE credits and featured speakers from the FBI, IRS, and private sector, drawing professionals from across Pennsylvania and beyond.

Their accomplishments include:

  • University Partnerships: Collaborated with the University of Scranton to host student nights, award programs, and mentoring opportunities.

  • Community Outreach: Sponsored cybersecurity summits and elder abuse awareness events, expanding their reach beyond traditional fraud topics.

  • Foundation Support: Donated to the ACFE Foundation and covered certification fees for aspiring CFEs, reinforcing their commitment to the next generation.

  • Networking and Collaboration: Partnered with the Philadelphia Chapter and other local organizations to foster cross-functional connections.

The chapter’s blend of technical training, community service, and student engagement demonstrates a well-rounded approach to fraud prevention that inspires both seasoned professionals and those entering the field.

Central Indiana Chapter
After a period of transition, the Central Indiana Chapter has reemerged stronger than ever. With 122 members and four major training events, including a two-day ethics and fraud conference led by Bret Hood, the chapter has redefined its role as a hub for professional development and collaboration.

Key highlights:

  • Scholarship and Giving: Donated $2,500 to the ACFE Foundation and launched a professional development scholarship for aspiring CFEs.

  • Training Excellence: Hosted quarterly CPE events and affordable local conferences covering forensic accounting, ethics, and real-world case studies.

  • Outreach and Inclusion: Engaged with colleges, community groups, and other professional associations (IIA and IASIU) to promote the CFE credential and expand their network.

  • Modernization: Updated bylaws, revamped their website, and streamlined communications to better serve members and attract new ones.

Their strategic rebuild has not only revitalized chapter operations but also created a more inclusive and forward-looking community of fraud fighters.

Together, these chapters exemplify the ACFE’s mission through education, service, and innovation. Their efforts remind us that local leadership can drive global impact and that every chapter holds the potential to shape the future of fraud prevention.
