Featured Chapters: Washington DC Metro Area and Albany Area

ACFE chapters play a vital role in advancing the anti-fraud profession through education, networking, outreach and community engagement. This month, we are spotlighting two chapters that have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to serving their members and supporting fraud fighters in their communities: the Washington DC Metro Area Chapter and the Albany Area Chapter.

Washington DC Metro Area Chapter
The Washington DC Metro Are Chapter delivered an impressive year of member engagement and professional development in 2025. Serving more than 350 members, the chapter hosted 18 training opportunities, including online sessions, in-person conferences, and collaborative events with organizations across the audit, compliance, and cybersecurity communities. Collectively, these events were attended by more than 1,500 attendees.

Beyond professional education, the chapter demonstrated a strong commitment to community outreach. Members delivered fraud awareness training for seniors, partnered with Carpenter's Shelter on a holiday outreach initiative and provided complimentary memberships to fraud professionals affected by workforce reductions. The chapter also fostered the next generation of fraud fighters through university partnerships, student networking opportunities and support for the Justice for Fraud Victims Project.

The chapter's commitment to collaboration, mentorship, and member value has helped create a thriving anti-fraud community in the Washington, D.C. region and beyond.

Albany Area Chapter
In its 30th anniversary year, the Albany Area Chapter focused on expanding member engagement, strengthening community connections, and investing in the next generation of fraud fighters. The chapter delivered seven training events totaling 21 CPE credits, including its annual two-day anti-fraud conference, while increasing outreach through enhanced communications and a growing presence on LinkedIn.

Supporting students and early-career professionals was a major focus for the chapter in 2025. Free student memberships, career fair participation, classroom presentations, scholarship opportunities and a record-setting Professional Certification Informational Seminar helped introduce more aspiring professionals to the CFE credential and careers in fraud examination.

The chapter also maintained a strong commitment to service. Members volunteered with the Justice for Fraud Victims Project, supported local charitable organizations,and strengthened relationships with law enforcement through participation in the Capital Region Financial Crimes Bridge Group. Additionally, chapter leaders shared their expertise with other ACFE chapters through pro bono presentations and collaborative educational events.

The accomplishments of the Washington DC Metro and Albany Area Chapters reflect the dedication of the volunteers and leaders who make local chapter success possible. Through their commitment to education, outreach, member engagement and professional development, both chapters continue to strengthen the anti-fraud community and inspire fraud fighters throughout their regions.
